At CCDI, your complete comfort is our priority. We are proud to offer sedation dentistry options to our patients in Brooklyn and surrounding areas. During a consultation with our dentists, you can learn more about whether you are a good candidate for sedation, as well as which type of sedation is right for you.
Available Sedation Options
Our team takes appropriate measures to foster a safe, comfortable atmosphere for our patients. We offer two types of sedation on-site. During a consultation, CCDI dentists will address your questions and concerns, and analyze a number of factors to recommend appropriate sedation options for you.
Nitrous oxide sedation is a common form of sedation in dentistry. Most patients are good candidates for nitrous oxide sedation. Nitrous oxide fully relaxes patients without putting them to sleep. If you have slight to moderate anxiety, have a sensitive gag reflex, or are allergic to other types of sedatives like oral and intravenous methods, it is a safe option that carries few risks.
Nitrous oxide is simple to administer. If you choose this type of sedation, you will be instructed to breathe naturally while inhaling a mixture of nitrous oxide and oxygen. You will remain fully awake, experience feelings of euphoria and calmness, and be fully relaxed during treatment. Nitrous oxide has little risk of adverse side effects; you will be closely monitored by our staff. The effects dissipate rapidly- allowing you to safely drive after your appointment.
Intravenous (IV) sedation is administered through a vein in the arm or hand. IV sedation is injected directly into the bloodstream and provides a deeper level of sedation. While under the effects of IV sedation, you will fall into a deeply relaxed state and will be free of pain and anxiety. IV sedation creates an amnesia effect, so patients do not have unpleasant memories of their treatment. Your level of sedation will be pre-determined and monitored using our state-of-the-art technical monitoring devices, ensuring your complete comfort and safety.
IV sedation is an excellent option for patients who are especially nervous, have medical conditions like back or neck pain, or are undergoing multiple or lengthy procedures at one time.
