Traditional dental bridges consist of a porcelain replacement tooth and two porcelain crowns. To keep the replacement tooth firmly in place, the two porcelain crowns are placed over the teeth directly adjoining the space where the replacement tooth will be placed. After the crowns are in place, the porcelain replacement tooth is set in its proper location and attached to each of the crowns.
In addition to traditional dental bridges, CCDI offers implant-supported dental bridges. This type of bridge is supported by dental implants, which have been placed surgically within the jaw. Implant-supported dental bridges are permanent and left in all day and night. CCDI can design a bridge to fit upon your existing implants or may place new implants to support your bridge. Implant-supported bridges provide many benefits, restoring your confidence in your smile’s function and appearance.
The Traditional Bridge Procedure
The placement of a traditional dental bridge requires two office visits. During the first visit, the procedure begins with the filing down of the teeth adjacent to the space where the replacement tooth will be placed. This creates the necessary space for the dental restoration. A mold is then taken of the two adjacent teeth. After your visit with CCDI, our staff then works with a dental lab to create your customized dental restoration. During your second visit, CCDI Dentists will put the dental crowns in place, and bond the replacement tooth to the dental crowns to put the dental bridge in place. After checking for an optimal fit and making any last minute adjustments, you can enjoy the benefits of a beautiful and fully functional smile.
